Modular architecture meets rural craft.
A dialogue between structure, material, and human process.
Architecture x Memory
Vernaro is a research-based design project investigating the relationship between contemporary formal language and rural craft knowledge. The objects are conceived as functional artefacts developed through direct collaboration with traditional craftsmen, where manual process becomes methodology rather than decoration.Instead of industrial production, the project proposes a constructive system based on structure, material intelligence, and embodied knowledge. Form emerges from the dialogue between geometry and traditional technique.
The forms derive from the structural logic of vernacular architecture, where stability and repetition function as fundamental constructive principles. Geometry is reinterpreted into a contemporary language through a clearly articulated modular system.
The triangular module defines the structural basis of the collection. Repetition and adjacency generate a flexible system capable of adapting to different spatial configurations. Each unit functions independently while allowing collective compositions. The modular system provides spatial flexibility without compromising formal coherence.
In Vernaro, craftsmanship is not ornament but constructive methodology. The object becomes a spatial element defined by structural clarity and the direct relationship between material and form.
The piece that is 100% handmade in the rural area is brought to the workshop, where tradition is literally mixed with the present, hence resulting the finished product.
